In April 2010, AFCEA Varna is organising an International Conference, entitled "Role and Importance of the New Air Force Fighter Model for the National and Collective Security". The event will focus on the future fighter requirement for the Bulgarian Air Force (BuAF) and related technologies. In this context, the conference will discuss the missions and roles of the air forces in the new security environment, and the contribution of Bulgaria’s new fighter to the national and collective security and to the national economic and technology development. The conference will be designed to engage all relevant actors in the widest possible debate on the future BuAF fighter requirement. Invited participants include: Lt. Gen. P.J.M. Godderij, RNLAF, Director, NATO International Military Staff; Lt. Gen. Ralph J. Jodice, Commander, Allied Air Component Command HQ Izmir; Lt. Gen. Vasilios Klokozas, Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff; Maj. Gen. Paul G. Schafer, Director, Strategy, Policy and Assessments (ECJ5/J8) Directorate, USEUCOM; Maj. Gen. Ion-Aurel Stanciu, Ph.D, Romanian Air Force Chief of Staff; and Colonel Horst Stüttgen, German Air Force, Commander of NATO Programming Center. The conference will feature an exhibition of air force equipment and technologies.
